How it's built
Gap is the tall tree that grows straight up. It doesn't bend easily: once it picks a direction it keeps climbing, which is why people hand it the front seat. A tree that snaps takes a while to regrow, so Gap does best when it chooses its battles.
Sul (戌), the Dog, is dry late-autumn earth — the field after harvest, with a fire kept inside. Loyal, protective and serious about its people.
Here the stem works the branch: you are sitting on something to shape and manage. Practical, results-minded and good with resources.
Personality — who sits in your closest seat
In saju the day branch is the seat closest to you: your private self, and traditionally your partner's seat.
The Adventurer. Moving resources sit in your closest seat. Sociable, generous and quick to spot an opportunity, you like variety, travel and big plans. Money and people flow toward you — and out again.
Life stage: Nurture. Being raised with care: gentle, warm and good at looking after others — and at letting yourself be looked after.
In short: the tall tree on the Dog, with The Adventurer close by and a Nurture kind of energy.
